COO for Upper Southeast and Northeast Asia
Patrick Basset is AccorHotels Chief Operating Officer for Upper Southeast and Northeast Asia. His extensive experience in both operational and marketing aspects of hotel management has enabled him to celebrate many successes in the hospitality industry.
Patrick joined AccorHotels in 1983 at Novotel Al Sadeer, Baghdad before becoming General Manager at Sofitel Doha Palace in Qatar, Novotel Accra in Ghana and Novotel Turquoise Side in Turkey. In 1993, Patrick relocated to Asia to lead AccorHotels’ flagship hotel at that time, Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square.
He then took up various senior executive roles with AccorHotels, including Executive General Manager for Thailand; Director of Operations – AccorHotels Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam; Chief Executive for Ibis Thailand; and Chief Executive of AccorHotels China, South Korea, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
Patrick returned to France in 1998 to take responsibility for the development and worldwide roll-out of AccorHotels’s new reservation system, before returning to Asia three years later to oversee Singapore, India, Malaysia and Vietnam. Currently, he is now overlooking 143 hotels, 33,040 rooms and 26,942 employees in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines South Korea and Japan.
With a passion for the outdoors, motorsports and adventure, he explores the region on his motorcycle and indulges mountain hiking, ski and golf, while appreciating the finer things in life or just relaxing with a good book in hand.
