Hang Lung Properties
Director, Hotel Development and Asset Management
Having started his hospitality career in the UK and Switzerland, Symon headed to the warmer pastures of Bermuda and South Africa before arriving in Hong Kong in 1990, where he still resides. Having been part of the opening team of Island Shangri-La, he then took on other roles within Shangri-La across general management, operations, and development, through to COO. On leaving Shangri-La, he joined fledgling New World Hospitality, now Rosewood Hotel Group and was part of the team that then integrated Rosewood Hotels on purchase into the group, and in his role as Group COO guided key openings of “new generation” Rosewood hotels in locations such as London, Beijing and Phuket amongst others. Now with Hang Lung Properties, Symon has moved to the ownership side, taking on the strategic development of hotel assets and selected residential projects for Hang Lung within their mixed use developments in mainland China.
